A pause on sabbaticals at GC
In January, the President’s Council at Goshen College announced that all sabbaticals are to be frozen for the next two school years, starting this fall. The decision was made during the process of developing the budget for the fiscal and academic year of 2017-2018, as the college identified cost savings. Sabbaticals are given to full-time teaching faculty after 10 years of employment, subject to approval from the academic dean’s office. There is a limit on the number of sabbaticals granted each year. A professor may choose one of the following two plans: (a) one semester with full pay, or (b)...

Between registering students for classes and handling transcripts, the registrar is also responsible for setting up the master class and exam schedules. Fact Book 2015 released

The GC Fact Book is an online collection of data about the college that has been gathered from various departments and offices such as the registrar’s office or the office of the vice president for finance, college relations, and admissions. Given that it includes information on topics like enrollment, athletic records and a number of other things from the last ten years, the Fact Book serves as a way...

Grow Goshen week
The first week in March, called “Grow Goshen Week,” is a time for thanking supporters of Goshen College. Throughout the year, Goshen College works hard to contact people outside of the campus to raise awareness about the institution and to ask for donations that help keep the school running. According to junior Student Associate in Advancement Armarlie Grier, the Department of Institutional Advancement runs events like the annual phone-a-thon, a telemarketing operation to ask for donations from alumni, as well as sends out postcards to alumni requesting their monetary donations to support the college. Because people are contacted year-round to...
