The painting I made is based on the song “House of Spirits” by The Veils. It is one I discovered over a year ago that has continuously stuck with me since. There’s so much imagery that I attempted to apply in my art piece in order to give life to the song.  Even though I’ve never fully enjoyed abstract art, creating this painting opened my eyes to a different outlet that doesn’t particularly need to be “perfect.” I hope that comes across to others as it does for me.

For this piece, I was assigned to create a self portrait, something I typically steer clear from as an artist. It was quite challenging as I wasn’t used to staring at myself for long periods of time and I felt uncomfortable. Last Friday, Goshen and Dragons hosted storytellers and adventurers alike to celebrate their shared love of the tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons. Goshen College hosted the opening of  the 2025 Senior Art Show this weekend, an event held at the Hershberger Art Gallery in the Music Center, where current senior art majors displayed their final undergraduate work. The spring musical, “RENT,” made its debut last weekend with a breathtaking performance given by the cast and crew at the John S. Umble Center. Vox Profundi, Goshen College’s low voice choir, wrapped up their weeklong tour over spring break with a home concert in Sauder Concert Hall on March 2. The annual Goshen College International Student Club Coffeehouse is set to happen this Saturday. The event will take place in the Church-Chapel Fellowship Hall, and will include both a community potluck and performances.   For the fourth year in a row, the Good Library hosted its annual Geek Off event. Goshen College’s 65th annual Concerto-Aria concert took place this Saturday, Feb. 15 at Sauder Concert Hall, with memorable performances from GC’s Orchestra and soloists.  The evening began with Symphony No.1 in E minor by Joseph Mounsithiraj, a senior art major. The Goshen College Advocates’ fourth annual drag show took place in the Umble Center last Saturday. All students were welcomed by the Advocates affinity group to attend the free event and enjoy the performances. Four drag queens, Lily J. The Art Club hosted an art show reception in the Good Library gallery this past Friday, showcasing beautiful and intricately detailed artworks from the members of the club and outside contributors.  There were pieces from numerous mediums, such as paintings, drawings, printmaking, ceramics and sculptures available to view at the exhibition.This year’s art show had about 20-30 guests.
