Maust presents ceramic clash of cultures
At the conclusion of his exhibit in Goshen College’s Hershberger Art Gallery, Lancaster-based ceramicist Dennis Maust stopped in at GC on Sunday to give a Topics and Issues lecture about his artwork. The exhibit, which was open from June 7 to Sept. 27, featured dozens of ceramic pieces, inspired by the time he and his family spent in Pakistan, Egypt and Bangladesh. In his presentation, Maust explained how many of the pieces feature patterns, structures and colors that echo things he saw and experienced living abroad. Visiting artist lecture: “Aerodrome”
Bob Emser, sculptor and aviation enthusiast will give the Goshen College Art department’s 2015 Eric Yake Kenagy visiting artist lecture. Emser’s lecture will take place on Sunday, January 25th from 7-8 p.m. in the Music Center’s Rieth Recital Hall, and a reception will take place immediately following the lecture. New Hershberger Gallery Opening
The Hershberger Gallery, located in the Music Center, opened a new graphic design exhibit Nov. 16. The exhibit features recent work from two Goshen College alumni, Anne Berry, a 1999 graduate, and Peni Acayo, a 2011 graduate. Following the gallery opening, Berry and Acayo gave a Topics and Issues presentation, where they discussed the meaning behind each of their projects. Berry is a visual communication design professor at the University of Notre Dame. Pottery tour comes to gallery
Ceramicists from all around the Michiana area are displaying pieces this fall in the Hershberger Art Gallery in Goshen College’s music center. The Michiana Pottery Tour showcase exhibit will be running until November 3, and the reception for the exhibit is5-7 p.m. Saturday. The Michiana Pottery Tour is an annual event in which community members, friends and fellow artists get a chance to see how local potters work and create in their own studios. Students display art in senior exhibit
Artwork by four Goshen College seniors is on display in the Hershberger Art Gallery through March 27. These students–Abe Stucky, Laurel Woodward, Emma Brooks and Meredith Ebersole–are participating in the first of two senior art exhibits this semester. A reception to celebrate the work of these four artists was held in the Music Center on Sunday, March 9. Juried Student Art Show: Open for submissions!
Though the senior art exhibit remains open for a few more weeks and the school year is quickly coming to a close, the GC art department has one more exhibit in store. Cooperman exhibit showcases “Disparate Elements”
Visiting artist Andy Cooperman designs jewelry that is meant to be more than mere accessory. His current exhibition, entitled “Disparate Elements,” will be displayed from Jan. 29 to Feb. 19 in Hershberger Gallery. Faculty art exhibit demonstrates the beauty of community
Five art professors display their passion for art and community in the new exhibit at the Hershberger Art Gallery. The exhibit, featuring artwork by John Blosser, Kristi Glick, Randy Horst, Merrill Krabill and John Mishler, opened on Sept. 25 will remain through Nov. 27. The second group of senior art work premiered last Sunday, April 3. Displayed in the Hershberger Art Gallery in the Music Center, this senior exhibit will be open to the public until April 13. Senior art on display in Hershberger gallery
This weekend, the Senior Art Shows will kick off with an opening reception in the Hershberger Art Gallery from 2-4 pm. This first set of senior art will be on display from March 20-30, with following Senior Art Shows running April 3-13, and April 17 -27. Burton display features graphic design creativity
Do you ever wonder where your favorite bands’ posters come from? They might have been created by Mikey Burton. Burton, a graphic designer from Canton, Ohio, will have his artwork displayed in the Hershberger Art Gallery at Goshen College until Jan. 12. He addressed students in a Topics and Issues session on Sunday following his reception. Retrospective exhibit highlights a lifetime of art
Before retiring from 30 years of teaching art at the end of this school year, Goshen College Professor of Art, John Blosser, has offered a retrospective exhibit of his artwork done throughout his career. Blosser, who graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in art and art education from Goshen College in 1970, went on to get a masters in painting and drawing from Bowling Green State University in Ohio in 1979.
