Wyse digs for Goshen
Stacy Wyse, a senior, recently became the second volleyball player in Goshen College history to record at least 3,000 assists and 1,000 digs. Since her freshman year in 2010, Wyse has made 3,597 assists and 1,023 digs. The only other player who set this record was 2003 graduate Kristi Miller. Ame Blankenship, a senior softball player, has pitched and played first base for four years. During the team’s most recent match-up, Blankenship pitched a complete game, striking out a career high ten batters and allowing just three hits in a 3-2 victory over Bethel. Walking to the top
What brought you to Goshen College? I came to Goshen College primarily for race walking. Back home in Maine, I didn’t have good options for colleges that had this sport as a part of their programs. Acayo, 2011 graduate, competes at NCAA Division I Championship
Peni Acayo, a 2011 Goshen graduate and long jumper competing for Kent State University, finished 11th in the triple jump at the NCAA indoor track and field championships. The Kampala, Uganda native missed the podium and the finals by two spots with a jump of 41’4¼” on Friday, March 9 in Nampa, Idaho. Kayaking passion takes Schwinn to Barcelona
At the world championships for kayaking, the sky opened up on Austin Schwinn just as he was tucking his boat into the water. He was drenched in a downpour as lap after lap brought him closer to the finish line. Heather Zimmerman is a junior midfielder on the Goshen College women’s soccer team. but she also helps out on another team, the Guam National women’s soccer team. A barefoot journey to Goshen
For Samuel Chege, running has been more than a sport. It has been a way of life. Growing up on his family’s farm in the countryside of Kenya, Chege’s feet were his means of transportation as he hunted, farmed, commuted to town and ran to school. “Running was not something to gain interest in since I had to run to get to where I needed to go,” said Chege, a senior.
