Best on-air personality, Kadie Daye
Kadie Daye, Goshen College alumna from the class of 2021, has been a “radio geek” since she was eight years old. She remembers sitting in the car with her mom, listening to various radio stations and passionately mimicking them. “I would do the jingles alongside the hosts, and every time they went to music, I would actually switch to the next station just to hear them talk some more,” she said. Globe wins 5th radio station of the year
Faculty and students from Globe Media gathered with hundreds of other college broadcasters at three different nationwide award ceremonies in October: College Broadcasters Inc. in Orlando, Florida; the Marconi Awards in New York City; and the College Media Association Pinnacle Awards in Atlanta. Students from The Globe and FiveCore Media received 18 individual awards across the three competitions. 91.1 The Globe was named Radio Station of the Year among institutions with enrollments under 3,000 students by the College Media Association. The Globe nominated once again
Goshen College’s radio station, 91.1 the Globe demonstrated their excellence in radio by receiving 20 unique nominations in the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) contest. Within the 20 different categories the station was nominated for, nine individuals received nominations with the station receiving six. On March 3, those nominated will travel to New York City to find out whether or not they’ll be bringing home gold yet again. The Globe gets an upgrade
The support of members and listeners alike pays off as 91.1 FM the Globe enters a new era with upgraded broadcasting equipment that will expand coverage of live events, including sports and concerts. In the language of technicians, broadcasters will now provide live coverage with the Tieline i-Mix G3 Mixer/Codec, with remote broadcasting done via Verizon 4G LTE data through a Pantech modem and a Cradlepoint router. GC student finds a voice in local radio
Yolo Lopez-Perez, a senior broadcasting major and youth ministry minor, landed a co-host DJ position at WFRN-FM (104.7). This position helped Lopez-Perez expand her broadcasting skills from Goshen College’s GCTV to a regular weekend position at a local radio station. When asked to describe a typical day at her new job, Lopez-Perez said her weekend routine is a 7:30 a.m. wake-up call and a quick breakfast. She then heads to the station 10 minutes before her 8:30 a.m. shift.
