‘Amazing tradition’ continues for ISC
The annual Goshen College International Student Club Coffeehouse is set to happen this Saturday. The event will take place in the Church-Chapel Fellowship Hall, and will include both a community potluck and performances. This is the second year where the International Student Club has combined both the potluck meal with the performances, and will look to have an evening full of culture, celebration and community. Coffee House combines dinner and show
The International Student Club hosted their annual Coffee House show this past Saturday in the Church-Chapel’s fellowship hall. Some attendees brought food for the potluck-style meal held before the event, featuring international dishes such as chicken biryani and Pakistani kima. Last year the event was held in Sauder Concert Hall. Goshen College’s International Student Club (ISC) will present its annual Coffeehouse show this Saturday in Sauder Concert Hall. Before the concert, a potluck meal will take place in the College Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall. A portion of the proceeds from the dinner and show will be used to support Mennonite Central Committee’s earthquake relief efforts in Syria and Turkey. Thirty-nine flags, 30 performers, 12 acts, three hosts, and what one performer called a “flamboyant” audience of over 320 people marked the return of the International Student Club (ISC) Coffeehouse. After two years of cancellations and restrictions due to COVID-19, Goshen College’s international students showcased the best of their countries’ music, clothing, dance and culture on Saturday. Thirty-five students took the stage this past weekend to perform in Goshen College’s annual International Student Club (ISC) Coffeehouse. The ISC leaders kicked off the event by welcoming both the socially-distanced audience in Sauder Concert Hall and the virtual viewers watching via livestream all over the world. The annual International Student Club (ISC) Coffeehouse will take place this Saturday, March 20, in Sauder Concert Hall. A celebration of countries and cultures at ISC
On Saturday, students got the chance to witness a celebration of different countries and cultures at the International Student Coffeehouse. The evening began with a dinner held in the Church-Chapel. Dishes from 13 different countries were offered, including hummus from the Middle East, kachumbari salad from Kenya, stroganoff from Brazil and chana masala from India. Goshen College’s annual International Student Club (ISC) Coffeehouse will be this Saturday, March 24. As is tradition, the Coffeehouse will begin with a meal prepared by ISC members as well as additional volunteers. This year’s ISC Coffeehouse started out personally when third-year Jon Kaasa, emcee of the evening, invited everyone to say hello in Norwegian to his mother, who he predicted was watching the livestream. Last Saturday the International Student Club (ISC) presented their annual International Coffeehouse dinner and show. Students catered a meal in the Church-Chapel, which was followed by a show in Sauder Concert Hall that featured performances by students from more than 30 different countries. ISC holds annual coffeehouse, showcases diversity
After nearly two months of planning, the International Student Club hosted its annual coffeehouse on Saturday, March 17. ISC is made up of Goshen College students from nearly 40 countries. In its humble beginnings, the coffeehouse was hosted in Newcomer Center, but as it gained popularity over the years it was moved to the Umble Center and eventually to Sauder Concert Hall. Many international students sense disconnect among peers
When he decided to attend a college that claims “global citizenship” as one of its core values, Mohamed Meissara, a sophomore from Mauritania, didn't envision himself sitting at a cafeteria table composed only of other international students.
