Goshen will be hosting the 17th annual River Bend Film Festival for the second year in a row from April 6 to 8. The three-day festival welcomes filmmakers and film-lovers alike to join in on a series of workshops, panel talks and film viewings. This Saturday, Mar. 11 at 7 p.m., the Goshen Theater will be premiering “Admit One: The Story of the Goshen Theater,” written and directed by Riley Mills, a junior communications student, along with production from Kyle Hufford, assistant professor of communication and Five Core Media general manager. Filmmaking has been the focus of Mason Mellinger’s years at Goshen College, with his most recent project aiming to give viewers a piece of the past as he begins to pursue his future. The annual River Bend Film Festival has moved its roots to the city of Goshen. The three-day independent cinema celebration has been held in South Bend for the past 14 years, but the festival now finds its home in the heart of downtown Goshen, celebrating its inaugural year with thousands of attendees. The Goshen College broadcasting program once again entered student work for the annual National Broadcast Educators Association awards, and they were not disappointed. Communications students working with the college’s radio station, 91.1 The Globe (WGCS) earned two awards, while students working with the video production company, FiveCore Media, will take home four video awards this year. Benson Hostetter and Jared Zook, senior communications majors with a concentration in film, are currently studying at the Los Angeles Film Studies Center located in West Hollywood.   Hostetter and Zook road tripped to California the week before classes began, spending time with several of Hostetter’s relatives. The Good of Goshen project, a compilation of videos and stories documenting the lives of the people and businesses of Goshen, began in June. The project is the result of a combined effort between Goshen College, the City of Goshen, Goshen Chamber of Commerce and Goshen Community Schools.
