Mask of Miller
Dan left his dorm nearing midnight, out into the hall, Converse crushing carpet, and into the elevator where he met a few pals. None wore the costumes they’d agreed on. A few hushed words resounded between them as the elevator hummed to the ground floor. Through KMY, they found the doors of Miller open for them and a riot followed. Half the campus must have been stuffed in there and the friends jammed themselves inside. The hall was a headache. Each room had been opened up, and smaller parties jived inside of them. People cluttered around windows for air. Blue...

Students spooked at Haunted Halls
While Miller Residence Hall typically sits empty, last Friday, Oct. 25, Res Life once again hosted their Haunted Halls event. While some may remember the event from last year, Kevin Schultz, assistant director of Residence Life, says this year’s turn out put last year’s to shame. Schultz stated that he “lost count,” of how many people went through during the night, some groups coming back multiple times. There were a total of seven rooms — each designed to scare — that were put together by resident assistants. Chandler Buchfeller, resident director, was responsible for leading each group through the darkened...

GC student athletes Trunk or Treat
On Sunday, Oct. 27, the Goshen College athletic department hosted their second annual Trunk or Treat community event. Trunk or Treat, a modern twist on regular trick-or-treating, involves families parking cars in a shared location and passing out candy from the trunks of their decorated vehicles. This variation is intended for trick-or-treaters to experience the fun of costumes and sweet treats while being in the safe vicinity of their own car and families. GC athletics has created their own version of Trunk or Treat in the Ruth Gunden Gymnasium where costumed trick-or-treaters and their families can cycle, free-of-charge, through sports...

Costume fashion: Students dress to impress
Halloween — the spookiest holiday of the year, best known for the costumes, candy and activities that come along with it. This year, Halloween Weekend (affectionately called “Halloweekend” by students) included two costume contests at GC events. One of the contests was at Howell-ween, a celebration put on by the residents of Howell House, while another took place at the Haunted Ball, hosted by The Role-Playing Game Club (RPGC) and the Campus Activities Council (CAC). The winner of the Haunted Ball contest was senior Skyler Van Antonides, dressed as a “Wandering Wizard.” Runner-up was faculty advisor Greg Sommers, who spoke...

Halloweekend at GC
Many events took place on Goshen College’s campus over Halloween weekend, including the Haunted Ball, Día de Los Muertos and Howell-een. These events were open to everyone on campus, and their organizers noted high attendance. The Haunted Ball was hosted by the Role-Playing Game Club and the Campus Activities Council. The event encouraged “goth, period, prom and bridesmaid garb” and gave students the opportunity to decorate Halloween masks. “It was great to see students express their creativity through their costumes,” said Abby King, student activities coordinator. According to King, they plan to continue this event and are considering “reviving haunted...
