Chamber choir invited to IMEA
The Goshen College Chamber Choir delivered a captivating performance at Rieth Recital Hall on Friday, Jan. 18, offering a preview of their upcoming performance at the Indiana Music Educators Association professional development conference in Fort Wayne. The concert began with a lighthearted moment as the choir members took some time to settle into their places on stage, with a playful remark from choir director Scott Hochstetler, who assured the audience that the early stage nervousness would pave the way for a flawless performance the next day. GC choirs ‘spread hope’ in fall concert
On Saturday, Oct. 26, the Goshen College Music Department held its annual Fall Choral Concert. A tailgate hosted by the Campus Activities Council in the Music Center courtyard was a prelude to the concert itself. The tailgate provided snacks, refreshments and lawn games. ‘Earthtones’ concert honors Oyer, showcases global music
This weekend is Earthtones: Songs From Many Cultures — the final choir concert of the year. Earthtones concerts maintain a tradition of celebrating diverse music from many cultures around the world. This particular Earthtones is also coupled with a celebration of Mary Oyer’s 100th birthday, which was on April 5. Vox Profundi and Chamber Choir director Dr. Scott Hochstetler stated that Oyer, a former Goshen College music and fine arts professor, “influenced a couple generations of Goshen College students, including music majors and many, many non-majors” during her tenure. Chamber Choir to tour Midwest
On Friday, Feb. 24, Goshen College’s Chamber Choir will kick off a weeklong tour spreading love across churches, colleges and high schools in Illinois, Kansas and Iowa. The theme of this year’s tour is “Lead with Love,” named after the final song of the repertoire by Melanie DeMore. Other songs of the tour also connect to the theme of love in many forms: love of God, neighborly love and even love of country through a Ukrainian hymn. Homecoming Gala hosts students, faculty and alumni
Sauder Concert Hall was full of music of the past and present to celebrate Homecoming Weekend on Saturday. Alumni of all ages, backgrounds and identities gathered to watch students and faculty perform music with themes of love and joy at the annual Homecoming Gala.
