The indiana Wesleyan women’s basketball team is ranked no. 1 in the country. Saturday, they demonstrated why in an 86-40 victory over Goshen as both teams closed their regular season.

Sam Hawk and Paige Davis, both juniors, and Jaime Stack, a first-year, combined to close IWU’s early lead to one at 9-8 after eight minutes. the rest of the half was dominated by the Wildcats, who took a 37-15 lead en route to the victory.

Sierria Burlage, a first-year, led Goshen with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Stack contributed 11 points and 6 boards for the Maple Leafs (3-27, 0-18). indiana Wesleyan (28-2, 17-1) was paced by four players in double figures, led by senior Krystal Stoneking with 18.

Stoneking and Stack both continued their standout seasons on Sunday as the MCC all-conference, all-defensive and all-freshman teams were announced. Stack was named to the all-freshman squad, while Stoneking was named conference player of the year. Bethel head coach Jody Martinez was coach of the year after leading the Pilots, in the preseason, to a second-place picked seventh in the conference finish and No.18nationalranking.
