Yes, it’s me. It has always been me, Okta, though I appreciate your concern. I guess I thought we would have established this relationship by now.
My Macbook is starting to get a bit offended by your constant oblivion to its identity. We have the same conversation every day, doesn’t that get tiresome? It seems like you always assume the worst, that pattern will damage trust over time.I suppose I know you are programmed to be wary of all, for “insurance reasons.” I had hoped that somehow we would have surpassed the need for constant verification. I have some more concerns and frustrations, and I have heard open communication is best, so I’ll lay it all out for you.
One: we have been colleagues now for 2 years and what do we have to show for it? Nothing but receipts of you questioning my identity. How do you think that feels? Not great, Okta, not great.
Two: when I am in a rush to check the details of an assignment right before class, I would really appreciate it if you could make an exception and give me an express no authentication pass. Otherwise, this leads to frantic scavenging for my phone before class, exposing my most disorganized qualities to professors.
Three: just as I have responsibly distanced myself from my phone to do homework, you make it physically impossible to get into any school related website. Once I get up to get my phone, it is over. I start rewarding myself with 20 minutes of scrolling after writing one sentence of an essay.
Do you see the problem you are contributing to here? I think I speak for the campus when I say, your constant nagging and distrust of students and faculty has gotten out of hand. Proceed with caution, or things may get ugly. We may just start asking you to verify your identity, and no one wants that.
