House of Spirits
The painting I made is based on the song “House of Spirits” by The Veils. It is one I discovered over a year ago that has continuously stuck with me since. There’s so much imagery that I attempted to apply in my art piece in order to give life to the song. Even though I’ve never fully enjoyed abstract art, creating this painting opened my eyes to a different outlet that doesn’t particularly need to be “perfect.” I hope that comes across to others as it does for me.

Picture, Me
For this piece, I was assigned to create a self portrait, something I typically steer clear from as an artist. It was quite challenging as I wasn’t used to staring at myself for long periods of time and I felt uncomfortable. I had to produce a reflection of me that people would stare at and critique for themselves. “Picture, Me” was an opportunity to know myself better and let other people picture me the way I do.

Training Nature
This piece’s grey tones represent the busyness of life in America. Everyone is in a rush to commute to work in grey cities and blocky offices. American lifestyle is basically draining the color out of nature, and our environment is becoming less healthy by the day. The windows show the liveliness that nature has to offer; when looking out from them, you can feel a fresh breath of pure air and realize how much our daily routines and busy lives are slowly but rapidly taking that freshness away.
