Cupid’s Chokehold
On Friday, Feb. 14, students gathered in Newcomer 19 for a workshop titled “Cupid’s Chokehold: The Realities of Sexual Asphyxiation.” Hosted by Leah Kurz, a member of the Family Justice Center of St. Joseph County, the meeting aimed to educate students on the risks associated with the topic. Emily Hahn, program director of interpersonal violence prevention, education and advocacy, was the event organizer. GC’s Du Quotidien: Connecting students and art
Tom Ashcraft, a professor of fine arts at West Carolina University, visited Goshen College as part of a college endowment for visiting artists. Ashcraft and the art department hosted a reception and workshop along with a speech at convocation. Allison Joseph unearths dormant writers
Over the course of MLK weekend, Allison Joseph, an award winning-poet, professor and editor, ran a poetry workshop for GC students. In this workshop, Joseph covered everything from the purpose of poetry and rhythm rhyme to how repetition leads to buried truths. Joseph was raised in Toronto and the Bronx. Her parents are of Caribbean origin, and she was born in London, England. Allison earned a B.A. from Kenyon College and an MFA from Indiana University.
