Maple Scholars program announces student researchers
On Feb. 6, Maple Scholar projects were announced — 10 projects in total from a range of departments. Andy Ammons, professor of biology and Maple Scholars director, said, “We have had more student applicants than ever before this year and at least as many mentor applications if not more than the last four or five years.” This year, 30 applications were narrowed down to 10 students who will be part of the research program. New tactics increase enrollment
As reported in The Record last week, this 2024 first-year class is the biggest since 2017, with 201 new students. While it may seem on the surface that Goshen College is still the same place, something had to cause this uptick in enrollment. The admissions office sits in the back corner of the Leaf Raker. Nearly all students pass by it every day while getting food, and it’s easy to identify, with large windows surrounding the suite. If students traveled inside, they’d find the reason for the increase. Prospective students gather for Celebrate Scholars weekend
Goshen College hosted Celebrate Scholars Day last Saturday, an opportunity for high-achieving high school students to learn more about GC’s offered academic programs. While on campus, students attended presentations and panels from current GC students and staff, as well as a fine arts showcase in Umble, which featured music, readings and more. Prospective students also underwent interviews related to achievement scholarships that they’ve applied for.
