The Goshen College Tennis Complex, located north of the Roman Gingerich Recreation Fitness Center will be dedicated to Stan King ’61 on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. The ceremony will feature a ribbon-cutting and celebration event for what will become the Stan King Tennis Complex. The event will be open to the public.

The complex features eight purple courts and new bleachers on the concrete pads located on either side of the courts. It also has a new foundation, support building, fencing and a new branded windscreen.

King was a member of the GC men’s tennis team between 1958 and 1961 and was head coach for 17 years. During his time, he was also a Roman Gingerich Champion of Character awardee. He will be in attendance on Thursday alongside his family and friends.

Weather permitting, the event will take place at the complex. Otherwise, it will take place in the RFC.

The event will feature speeches from King himself, athletic director Dwight Gingerich, President Rebecca Stoltzfus, a donor for the tennis courts and players Timo Novak and Blanka Bodo.

Refreshments will be served. There will be an intrasquad scrimmage after the event, also open to the public.

Both Maple Leaf men’s and women’s teams are currently receiving votes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics coaches polls. The men are unbeaten in conference play and the women currently have a record of 3-1.

The first game at the Stan King Tennis Complex will take place on Tuesday as the Maple Leafs take on Huntington.
