In the most recent College Disc Golf rankings, the Goshen College women’s disc golf team has been ranked 20th in the nation. The Maple Leafs are ranked alongside some NCAA Division I teams including Western Michigan University, University of Illinois and University of Minnesota.

“We’re pleasantly surprised,” said Jason Samuel, the disc golf head coach. “I think one of the things that works in our favor to be recognized like that, even with a brand new team, is the fact that we’re out here playing those conference events and those regionals.”

“It’s really exciting,” said Morgan Chupp, a sophomore. “Being top 20 is insane. It’s an accomplishment especially because we have just got started, Dahlia [Thut] and Ines [Villasenor Rodríguez] had never played disc golf before, so it’s definitely exciting.”

Samuel said, “It’s a privilege to be recognized as one of the top 20 programs in the country, so we just need to continue to improve.”

Chupp said, “Jason is providing us with so many opportunities, two of our coaches have played at the world tournament, so we have some of the best people working with us.”

GC will travel will travel to Morton, Illinois, for the third Midwest Collegiate Takeover on Oct. 24 and 25.
