For the first time in its history, Goshen College’s 91.1 The Globe has been named a College Media Association Pinnacle Award finalist for Four-Year Radio Station of the Year in the broadcasting category.
In addition to the radio station award, nine students and 2020 graduates are up for individual CMA awards. Kadie Daye, Benjamin Cotton, Nathan Pauls, Bryce Stopher, William Troyer, Alyson Prigge, Jeremiah Sherrill, Tanner Camp and Riley Friesner are all CMA finalists.
In a year where news is abundant, but covering it is more challenging, Jason Samuel, the Globe general manager, is proud of the work coming out of the radio station.
"Our students continue to amaze me,” he said. “Even during a challenging year they continue to create meaningful stories that are consistently viewed as some of the best student work by our colleagues and peers from around the country.”
Kadie Daye, The Globe student station manager said the nomination is a testament to the strong team present every day.
“Having staff members that want to do good work and motivating professors to help guide us to success makes a world of difference, and the Globe wouldn’t be what it is without them.”
Six students and graduates were also announced as finalists for three awards under the College Broadcasters Inc. National Student Production Awards
All winners will be announced on Oct. 23, as part of the Associated Collegiate Press/CMA fall National Media Convention.
