Goshen College announced Dwight Gingerich as the new athletic director on Wednesday morning. Gingerich is currently the head of school and boy’s basketball head coach at Hillcrest Academy in Kalona, Iowa – formerly named Iowa Mennonite School. He will start his duties at GC on July 1.
Gingerich said in GC’s press release, “Our family loved our time at Goshen and I am very grateful to President Stoltzfus and the search committee for this opportunity to return.“I am excited to lean into the college’s core values of Christ-centeredness, passionate learning, servant leadership, compassionate peacemaking and global citizenship, as we work together to grow Maple Leafs Athletics.”
Gingerich brings more than four decades of coaching and educational leadership experience, according to a press release from GC. Gingerich was the head coach of the boy’s basketball team from 1981 through this year, taking one year off in 2000, when he came to GC to be the interim men’s basketball coach. He was named conference co-coach of the year according to GC’s press release.
Gingerich’s career record of 759-239 ranks him fourth in wins in Iowa high school basketball coach history. In 2024 he was inducted into the Iowa High School Basketball Hall of Fame. The gym floor at Hillcrest Academy bears his name.
