Students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in the Good Library Geek Off, an inaugural creative contest, through Feb. 4.

“Geek Off is a chance for everyone on campus to show what they are passionate about … ” said Kelsey Mclane, access services coordinator for the Good Library.

Entries will be judged based on the following criteria: creativity and originality, technical excellence and overall impression. In addition, entries must be items that are created outside of courses, in order to focus on a student’s creativity away from school.

Prizes for the top three entries include a Nintendo Switch, an Elkhart County Comic Con weekend VIP ticket and a ThinkGeek box collection.

“We had our first Geek Off last year and it was so phenomenal because we had such a wide variety of projects,” McLane said.

In the past, people have entered cosplay, 2D and 3D art, knitting, songwriting and an entire card game about surviving Goshen College, the last of which was the grand prize winner last year.

McLane added, “Our GC community is chock full of creative spirits and such talent, and this contest is a fun way to let people show off that geekiness and that talent.”
