Want to paint a toilet for the upcoming musical Urinetown? What about brainstorming to think of creative ways to solve problems around campus? How about learn about how Hans Weaver and Niles Graber-Miller started Menno Tea? All of this can be done and more during the upcoming Global Entrepreneurship Week, which takes place November 12th to the 16th. The business department will be hosting a variety of activities around campus in order to provide education about entrepreneurship, teach valuable skills, and most of all, to have fun.
There are many different activities to participate in next week. The first event will be a brainstorming activity starting on Monday the 12th. Everyone will help brainstorm problems around campus. A few of these problems will be featured during the week on boards around campus, such as the cafeteria and the Leaf Raker. Suggestions are welcome on these boards, and the results will be proposed to the Senate for consideration at the end of the week.
Excerpts from the PBS documentary Half the Sky will be shown on Tuesday November 13 from 7:30 to 8:30 pm in Wyse 319. This movie focuses on various entrepreneurial individuals causing social change across the globe and how they are helping women and children with services such as education and healthcare. Discussion and refreshments will follow the excerpts of the movie.
The next event of the week will be on Wednesday, November 14 at 7 pm, in Newcomer 17. This event is a mixer involving local business owners that are either current students or graduates of Goshen College. These entrepreneurs will be sharing about their projects and answering questions – refreshments will be served.
The final event of the week will be in the Umble center on Thursday, November 15 at 8 pm. This event is a chance to channel creativity while supporting the upcoming musical Urinetown. Come and help paint a toilet that will be a promotional item for the musical and on display all weekend. Come enjoy refreshments and time with friends during one of the various events.
All majors are welcome to drop in on any of the events to celebrate and learn about global entrepreneurship.
