BSU & LSU Talent Show

The Black Student Union and Latino Student Union are hosting a talent show Oct. 25 from 9-11 p.m. in the Umble Center. This event is free and open to all student, staff and prospective students. There will be a Kick Back in Newcomber 19 after the show that will include refreshments and music.

 

Programming Competition

On Sept. 20, Seth Yoder, a senior, and Maria Jantz, a senior, won first place in the Consortium for Computing Sciences in Colleges. Yoder and Jantz completed the most computer programming problems in four hours. Neither student is a computer science major.

 

Peace Event

The Community for Peace and Nonviolence will host a St. Marcellus Day celebration on Oct. 30. The evening will include a prayer service, which the Goshen College Women’s World Music Choir will perform at, and a keynote address, after a Middle Eastern meal, by Zoughbi Zoughbi, founder and director of the Palestinian Conflict Resolution & Transformation Center. Zoughbi is the father of Marcelle Al-Zoughbi, a 2012 Goshen College graduate. It begins at Kelly Park in South Bend at 5:45 p.m. and will end at Remick Commons in Notre Dame at 7 p.m.

 

Enchanted Forest

Merry Lea will host an alternative Halloween celebration on Oct. 24 and 25. Geared toward children in grades kindergarten through third, it consists of a lantern-lit walk through he woods and refreshments. It begins at 7 p.m. and the cost is $2.50 per person.
