Q: Why were you interested in the position?
A: I'm in the Broadcast Media Production (BMP1) class, and we were all sent an email about it. My
professor thought I should take a look into it, because I was showing a lot of promise in class. I went to
one of the recordings for the Correspondent and was actual allowed to direct half the show. I enjoyed it
so much I decided to apply.
Q: What qualifications do you have?
A: I have made four short films for projects in high school as well as various other advertisements for
school announcements. I spend a lot of time on video projects here at school and will be going to
film in Greece and Italy. I am still learning about all the different equipment and the procedures that
go along with news directing, but I'm excited to be working for the program and hope to learn from
upperclassman who have been working on the Correspondent for awhile.
Q: What do you hope to accomplish through your work?
A: The communications department in general is phenomenal, and our news program here is award
winning. Yet very few people on campus know anything about The Correspondent or GCTV and students
in the program work too hard to have no one watch what they create. My goal is to really spread the
word about GCTV and advertise it better on campus.
Q: Some interesting facts about you ...
A: I am also a sprinter on the track team, place cello in Orchestra, and will be an ML next year.
Jared Zook, a first-year Communication from Canton, Ohio, is the GCTV operations manager for next year.
Q: Why are you interested in the position?
A: I really liked the professionalism of the Correspondent, and I wanted to continue that, and hopefully
make it something that more people can watch and enjoy.
Q:What qualifications do you have?
A: Film and video production has been a passion of mine for a long time, so I have quite a bit of experience.
It's what I love to do!
Q: What do you hope to accomplish through your work?
A: I think Abby and I have similar goals for The Correspondent. Basically, we'd really just like to see more
students watching and participating in the show.
Q: Some interesting facts about you ...
A: I love doing anything outdoors, especially water activities like swimming, snorkeling, and canoeing.
Becca Kraybill:
Kraybill, a junior English writing major from Lancaster, Pa., will be The Record editor-in-chief in the fall.
Q: Why were you interested in the position?
A: I desired to be the Record's head editor to explore my interest in journalism, gain leadership skills, and
work closely with the awesome/crazy process of the paper's construction.
Q: What qualifications do you have?
A: This summer I will work as a reporting intern at "The Intelligencer Journal," a newspaper company in
Lancaster. My internship will give me great insight to how a newspaper is formed, from interviews to
writing to layout. I've also taken several journalism classes here.
Q: What do you hope to accomplish through your work?
A: I want to make The Record more of an collaborate process where editors, writers, and readers work
together to decide content. My goal is to make the paper thought-provoking, informative, and funny.
Q: Some interesting facts about you ...
A: I've kept a journal since second grade.
Ropp, a junior communication and psychology major from Schaumburg, Ill., will be The Record editor-in-chief
Q: Why you were interested in the position?
A: Editing for the Record is a great chance to develop my writing skills, work collaboratively with peers,
gain leadership experience and open doors for a future career in journalism. Above all, the Record editor
position appealed to me because it is a unique opportunity to use my passion for editing and writing to
shape the paper and make a difference on campus.
Q: What qualifications do you have?
A: Qualifications: Two years of experience at the Record as a Features page editor, contributing writer and
copy editor. I was also co-editor-in-chief of my high school newspaper.
Q: What do you hope to accomplish through your work?
A: My ultimate goal as Record editor is to create a paper that accurately and fairly reports on all areas of
campus life. As such, I will work closely with the editorial staff to brainstorm story ideas that reflect the
many departments, activities and programs affiliated with Goshen College. Each week I will keep track of
the stories that get printed and make sure new topics and opinions are published in follow-up issues. If
a story is written from one point of view, I will be sure to offer the opposing party a chance to respond
to it. (For example, if students are upset with the administration, we need to report on both sides of the
issue). The Record is not a place to fan the flames of tension on campus; rather, it should serve as an
inviting forum for the many voices of Goshen College.
Q: Some interesting facts about you ...
A: I'm about to receive a journalism award from the Indiana Collegiate Press Association for an article
I wrote last semester (but I'm not sure which story it's for or what place I ranked...). In addition to
working at the Record, I love to sing and have been in the Women's World Choir for the past 3 years.
I'm a huge Harry Potter nerd. If I were to be sorted into one of the Houses at Hogwarts, I would probably
be a Hufflepuff. My favorite animal is the narwhal. A friend recently made me a blue stuffed narwhal
and it is prominently displayed on my desk. It is, to put it simply, awesome.
Morris, a junior broadcasting major from Mooresville, Ind., will be The Globe student station manager next year.
Q: Why you were interested in the position?
A: I love the radio station and as student station manager I hope to help make a bigger impact with The Globe as a whole; staff, station, listeners.
Q: What qualifications do you have?
A: I have been a globe staff member since my sophomore year. I am the morning show host so I am involved with the station on a regular basis.
Q: What do you hope to accomplish through your work?
A: I hope to help more broadcasting/comm majors succeed and develop their passion for the radio as a career. I also want to see The Globe continue to strive to be the great station that I know it is and hopefully see another "Best Station in the Nation" plaque hanging on the wall.
Q: Some interesting facts about you ...
A: I'm obessed with Marilyn Monroe! I love 80's music and movies. My favorite color is pink and until my junior year of high school when I took a TV news elective class I wanted to be a lawyer. When I was little, I would eat green beans and peas straight from the can. Not cooked.
