Everyone’s got an opinion on Valentine’s Day. I know people who love it and people who hate it.

It’s a day of love and flowers and chocolate — of high expectations, and sometimes high risks, like your balloons flying away before they can be gifted (so sorry that happened @gabekermode).

Overall, it seems that Valentine’s Day either goes really well or really poorly.

The same goes for our birthdays, right? They seem to be either super great or just kind of “meh.”

I myself have a birthday on the day of love. Now, after 22 birthdays, my one piece of advice is this: try to avoid being born on Valentine’s Day. The two don’t mesh well.

In case you’re not convinced yet, I’ve compiled a list of pros and cons for your consideration.

Pros:

– You get lots of chocolate

– Everyone remembers your birthday

– Sometimes you get two gifts; this depends on your romantic situation

Cons:

– You get lots of chocolate

– Everyone remembers your birthday but you can’t remember anyone else’s, unfair advantage

– Sometimes you get two gifts; this depends on your romantic situation

Really, it’s not all that bad, just a minor inconvenience. Just kind of… “meh.” So, if you find yourself in this position, I suggest finding a good group of friends who choose to celebrate you anyway. And maybe some parents who understand a holiday birthday (my mom is a Christmas baby). It’s do-able, but if you can, my advice is try to avoid it!
