A night full of questions, love and the “five dollar ball.” These are some photos taken over the last two Wednesday layout nights.
Reflections from some of the members of the Editorial Board on this semester of The Record
“It’s about community: whether that’s sharing stories with Goshen or spending time with the amazing people in the newsroom.” -Kate Bodiker, news editor
“It’s about growth and learning, a shared camaraderie and lots of Love — but mostly the late-night spicy potato soft tacos.” -Charlie Aldrich, executive co-editor
“It’s about a commitment to grow a beloved campus staple with an amazingly talented group of people — and have some fun too.” -Griffin Eash, sports editor
“It’s about spreading news, maintaining tradition and creating a space for public discourse that isn’t controlled by social media algorithms.” -Phil Witmer-Rich, funnies co-editor
“It’s about carrying on this legacy of editorial independence with quality and authenticity — and vibing with people and getting the job done.” -Mackenzie Miller, arts editor
“It’s about getting away from your everyday class work and problems to create a tangible product for students, staff, alumni and the community. Every Wednesday night laying out The Record I feel like I am in a time machine.” -Isaac Sawatzky, digital editor
“It’s about fostering a creative environment for students to embrace their unique skills and make friends along the way.” -Sadie Brenneman, executive co-editor
Layout night (an average leave time of 3:18 a.m.) can consist of lots of copy editing, designing The Record, many laughs and a late night Taco Bell run.
