The 2012 revised version of “Godspell” will open this weekend as Goshen College’s Fall Main Stage. ”Godspell” follows the story of Jesus and his disciples in a modern setting. The story is about the community of Jesus’ followers and how they come together as a group, growing together in their common love for Jesus.Fourteen students make up the “Godspell” cast, including sophomore Jacob Zehr as Jesus and senior Ben Ganger as John the Baptist/Judas Iscariot, as well as seniors Paul Zehr, Martin Flowers and Christina Hofer; juniors Galed Krisjayanta, Maggie Weaver, Sadie Gustafson-Zook and Morgan Short; sophomores Emily Evans and Simon Weaver; and first-years Naomi Peters and Lukas Thompson.
Rather than a pit orchestra, the show features a live band.
“It has been a rip-roaring fun time to be involved in our production of ‘Godspell,’ and I think the final product is shaping up to be a pretty good time,” said first-year Lukas Thompson, identifying the amount of hard work the entire cast and crew has put into the process.
This weekend, “Godspell” will be performed on the 13th and 14th at 8 p.m. and on the 15th at 3 p.m. The show will also be performed on next Saturday the 21st at 8 p.m. and the 22nd at 3 p.m. The 22nd will be ASL interpreted.
Tickets are $12 for the general public and $7 for students, seniors, and Goshen College employees, and are available at the Welcome Center and the Box Office, as well as online.
