The intramural basketball season is off and running with three nights of games being played as of Wednesday. Those nights have produced a wide spectrum of results from blowouts to nail-biters.

On Sunday night, Maple Jordan secured their first victory with a 74-41 triumph over Blazers. Pippin Ain’t Easy scored an impressive victory over Dunkin Go Nuts in an 87-33 effort, and Chuggz defeated Team Faculty-Staff by way of forfeit.

After Tuesday’s round of games, two teams remain unbeaten in regular season play. Pippin Ain’t Easy ran their record to a perfect 3-0 with another lopsided victory, this time a 79-37 win over Blazers, while Chuggz remain at 2-0 after having a bye on Tuesday. Dunkin Go Nuts ended their losing streak and vaulted into the win column for the first time this season after holding off a late surge by Team Faculty-Staff in a 62-50 win. The other game of the night saw Maple Jordan handle Hoosier Daddy 64-46.

The next round of men’s games will take place on Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. with Blazers vs. Hoosier Daddy on court 1, Team Faculty-Staff vs. Maple Jordan on court 2 and Chuggz vs. Dunkin Go Nuts on court 3.

The women’s championship began this past Sunday with the first of a 3 game series between Short Stack and Wrecking Ballers. Short Stack took game 1 by a score of 44-25. After struggling to find rhythm in the first half, Wrecking Ballers managed to settle down make a game of it early in the second half before Short Stack slammed the door and took back the momentum with a late run to end the game.  The loss puts Wrecking Ballers in an unenviable must-win situation for the rest of the series. Game 2 will be this coming Sunday at 10:00 p.m. If Wrecking Ballers is able to draw even in the series, Game 3 will be on Sunday February 8th at 10:00 p.m.
