The Goshen College women’s basketball team could not seem to get in any sort of shooting rhythm, falling to Aquinas College Tuesday night in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The Maple Leafs shot just 33% on the night, hitting a mere 22-of-67 shots attempted, with hitting only 1-of-12 from three point range, and hitting 17-of-27 from the free throw line as they fell to 0-2 in the still young season.

Freshman Liz Tecca scored a team-high 18 points on 7-of-17 shooting, with senior Mary Hataway chipping in 13 points and senior Sam Hawk scoring 12 of her own in her first game of the year.

The Lady Leafs were able to force 17 Saint turnovers, but just could not find a rhythm and could not stop the Saints Allison Heberlein, who scored 34 points on the night.

The Lady Leafs are back in action as they host their first home game of the season against Indiana University Northwest at 6 pm Friday night at Gunden Gymnasium.
