Men 6th, women 14th at Bethel Invitational
Both men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled just up the road to St. Patrick’s Park in South Bend this past Friday evening to compete in the Bethel College Invitational. The men claimed a top-10 finish while the women tabbed 14th. Steven Cranston, a sophomore, topped teammate Vincent Kibunja for the first time this season, posting a season-best mark to finish ninth overall. Cranston’s time of 26:08.4 was nearly 13 seconds quicker than his previous season best and just 50 ticks behind race winner Tony Floyd of Madonna University. XC Men 3rd, women 5th in Crossroads League Preview
The Goshen College men’s and women’s cross country teams finished in third and fifth place respectively Friday in the highly anticipated Crossroads League Preview hosted by Marian University on the Northwoods Church Course. Vincent Kibunja, a Monroe College sophomore transfer and Kenya native did not compete in the Leafs’ opening event, but came out of the gate strong in his first race in Goshen purple with a finish of 28 minutes, 17.77 seconds. XC kicks off season with top finishes
The Goshen College men’s cross-country team finished third and the women fifth as each team kicked of their season this past Friday in a trip to Indiana Wesleyan University to compete in the IWU Twilight Classic. Sophomore Chelsea Foster led the Maple Leaf women with a time of 19 minutes, 41.5 seconds. Placing her 24th overall in the field. Leafs end season on high note
Goshen’s cross country teams ran their final meet of the season this past Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. 11 runners set personal bests, the men’s team finishing 5th out of 10 teams and the women finishing 8th out of 10. The men were again led by Ryan Smith, a senior, and Steven Cranston, a first-year, who were the first Maple Leafs across the finish line. Ryan Smith, a senior, led the way for not just Goshen, but every racer in the field. Twelve Maple Leafs posted their fastest times of the season Saturday as the Goshen College men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the NAIA Great Lakes Invitational in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Both Goshen College men’s and women’s cross country teams posted top ten finishes this past Friday at the Bethel College Invitational at Saint Patrick’s County Park in Mishawaka, Indiana. The Goshen College cross-country teams traveled down to Louisville, Kentucky this past weekend to compete at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park for the Greater Louisville Classic. The women’s team finished 21st out of 39 teams and the men placed 14th out of 41. Goshen College’s cross country teams traveled to Marion, Indiana last Friday for the Indiana Wesleyan Twilight Invitational; their opening meet of the season. Rustin Nyce named Goshen College head track and cross country coach

Cross country concludes season
Both the men’s and the women’s cross country teams concluded their seasons in Huntington, IN, on Saturday at the Crossroads League Championship meet. The women finished 10th with 266 points and the men finished fifth with 126 points. Alejandro Rodriguez, a senior, and Ryan Smith, a junior, both left the meet with a chance to qualify for the national level. For Irene Schmid, a senior cross country member, running began at home. “My parents have always been very active. I think I ran/walked my first race when I was four, but I started running competitively 10 years ago when I was in 7th grade. My parents told me that if I ran cross country, I could get a cat. XC welcomes Coach Nyce
On June 30, it was announced that Doug Yoder would resign as head cross country coach at GC and Rustin Nyce would take over as interim head coach. Fast-forward about two and a half months, and the Leafs and Nyce are in full swing. Headed To Nationals, ‘Pumped’ And ‘Energized’
The Maple Leafs cross country team could not be more exited. After being just points away from making it to the NAIA National Cross Country Championship for the past three years, the team has finally made their dream a reality. Both cross country teams are having a good season this year. Men’s XC Wins Hokum Karem
The cross country Maple Leafs hosted their only home meet on Saturday in the Goshen College Hokum Karem. This race is run by dividing teams into pairs who alternate running one mile loops, and the results come from scoring the top three pairs of each team. On the men’s side, Goshen College won the event over Grace College and Holy Cross College by finishing the event with 11 points.
