Voices on Paper: students unite
A variety of students gathered in the visual arts building on Wednesday to make posters in support of the protest that will be held in downtown Goshen this Saturday. The event was organized by students from the student task force — the organization’s current name that the leaders hope will soon become more refined, as they plan to submit an application to become an official club soon. GC students join 11-day-long march for peace
Over the summer, 50 Mennonites embarked on a 135-mile walk, determined to make their voices heard amidst the heat of mid-July. Carrying signs and banners adorned with messages of peace and calls to action, the participants made up the initial group of the “All God’s Children March for a Ceasefire,” an endeavor organized and supported by social justice organization Mennonite Action. Students join march for peace
Goshen College students joined community members in Elkhart on Saturday at a protest calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. The protest was organized by community members from Goshen and Elkhart. Luisa Dutchersmith, a junior elementary education and TESOL major, played a role in organizing the event. She was involved in general brainstorming and leading songs and chants. “I was happy with the turnout,” Dutchersmith said. “There were about 100 people there, which for Elkhart in 15-degree weather was pretty good.
