No regrets
Writing your final editorial is a daunting task. I seriously considered writing an editorial about some random topic and never acknowledging the fact that this is the last one. But, here we are, and I can’t pretend that this isn’t the end — in barely over a week I’ll stroll across the stage and receive a diploma, ending four years of hard work. Shout out to the rest of the seniors, we really are a great class aren’t we? But the ending of our college journey makes me think about how we end things, and what it feels like to...

My time at GC
Throughout my grade-school years, I thought of college as a big deal because of the extreme academic rigor I was sure was about to ensue. I imagined spending endless hours in the library grinding away at the research paper that would determine my future. And yes, I did end up spending hours at the library, but I’d say about half of that time was spent talking with people, or playing some obscure game from the reserves with a group of friends. I have learned a great deal academically throughout my time at GC, but academic improvement was simply not what...

Colleges collaborate with GC
Goshen College is the place “where everything connects,” and through these connections many opportunities arise for students. Collaboration with other institutions can give academic and global experiences to students at GC, and in turn to others at other universities. Two of the programs available are through the global studies department and the physics department. The physics department works with Notre Dame, Case Western University and Valparaiso University. They provide a 3-2 program, three years at GC, then two years at one of the respective universities. Being a small liberal arts school, GC does not have programs for specific engineering...

A day in the life of Dash
Dash the black squirrel appeared for the first time two and a half years ago during Homecoming in 2022. By now, everyone on campus is familiar with the chipper, bright-eyed face of Goshen College’s resident mascot, Though, newer students may not know that Dash hasn’t always been revving up the crowd at sporting events. Chad Coleman, interim director of athletics and director of campus safety, and Erica Albertin, former director of athletics and current associate director for athletic health and wellness, were two of the minds behind the idea of introducing a mascot, though the details of the mascot’s look...

I’m scared
As I enter senior year and put into perspective the memories I have made here, the word nostalgia comes to mind. Nostalgia allows us to put on rose-colored glasses as we re-experience events from our past, especially those that we associate with meaningful times and places in our lives. In my work with marketing and design, I’ve realized that this wistful affection for the past encourages brands to reimagine designs from old releases. This new focus has been very prominent in sports marketing and can also be seen in the latest fashion trends. Brands doing this acknowledges our, the consumers’,...
