Sign-ups for the third season of the Goshen Ultimate Summer League is underway.

In 2009, Goshen College alums Krista Daniels and Craig and Kathy Glick Miller founded the league with a few other alums and friends. They hoped for 40 people to sign up. About 100 joined the league for its first year.

Ultimate, also known as Ultimate Frisbee, uses a flying disc in a game similar to soccer and American football. Players throw the disc to advance it down the field against another team and attempt to score in an end zone.

The Goshen league has had six teams the previous two years. Games are from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays at OxBow County park between Elkhart and Goshen. League play starts May 24.

The league is offering free clinics to help newcomers and women gain skills. The women’s clinic is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on May 17.  The newcomer’s clinic is 1 to 4 p.m. June 11.

Registration is $40, $30 for students and includes a disc and league shirt. Registration is at www.goshenultimate.com.  If you have questions, send an e-mail to goshenultimate@gmail.com.
