The Goshen College men’s basketball team will facilitate a community league this fall. The Goshen Elite Fall Basketball League will run on Sunday evenings beginning September 13, and is open to any high school sophomore or junior basketball player with hopes of taking their game to the next level. Freshmen will be admitted on a case-by-case basis.
In this league, there will be eight regular season games followed by a single-elimination tournament. Along with the games, the $100 registration fee will include a Goshen Elite Fall Basketball League t-shirt, coaching from the GC coaching staff and a designated team coach, and opportunities for open workouts with the Maple Leaf coaching staff. Goshen head coach Neal Young will also hold a recruiting seminar for the high school athletes and their parents on September 13 entitled “Navigating the Recruiting Process Like a Pro.”The games will be played in the Roman Gingerich Recreation-Fitness Center, the home of the Maple Leafs, on Sundays from September 13 through October 11. On the first four Sundays, each team will play two games a night with start times at 5:30, 6:45 or 8 p.m. On the final Sunday the tournament will begin at 5:30. Admission to games will be three dollars, high school coaches will be admitted for free, and concessions will be available.
