The Goshen College Softball team spent their spring break in Florida, playing nine games in four days, diving right in to the start of the 2011 season. The Maple Leafs started off by winning their first game, and ended the trip on a 4-5 record.

The first game was against the University of Michigan Dearborn, which Goshen won with a score of 7 to 4. The second, third and fourth games saw a Goshen losing streak going up against a good Saint Xavier with a score of 8-0, and Webber International, whom they played twice to losing scores of 6-3 and 13-3. The next game would see a turn around and Goshen’s second victory of the semester against Rose Hulman Institute, to a score of 9-3. The next game that Goshen played was against Adrian, a game that Goshen lost 5-2. Later that day Goshen went ahead and captured the third victory of the season against Ferrum College(Ma.) with a score of 4-3. For the second to last game Goshen played the University of Michigan Dearborn again, but with different results as Goshen fell 13-3. For their last game of the trip before coming home the Maple Leafs played Marygrove University (Pa.) and came away victorious with a score of 9-1.

This weekend the softball team will travel to New Albany, Indiana where they’ll play in the IU – Southeast Tournament.
