The Goshen College men’s and women’s Indoor Track and Field competed alongside eight of their nine MCC rivals and more than 600 student athletes at the 7th annual Taylor Indoor Invitational on Saturday.

Both junior Matthew Webster and freshman Andrew Witkowski were standouts for the Maple Leafs. Each won an event, Webster taking first in the Weight Throw and Witkowski took top honors in the 5k race.

Webster threw the 35-pound ball a distance of 53′ 9 1/4″, which was good enough to beat 24 other competitors, 21 of whom were conference opponents. This continues Webster’s fine start to the season, as he’s already broken a school record and qualified for the NAIA Indoor National Championships.

Witkowski ran a time of 16:08.61, finishing almost 17 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor. Witkowski earned all conference honors this fall for cross country.

The team has one more meet in the regular season before the National Championships. Goshen heads to Purdue University for the Boilermaker Invite on Saturday Feb. 19.
