Matthew Webster, a junior, broke another school record when he was competing with the men’s and women’s track and field teams during the Wildcat Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday, Feb. 5. Webster broke the 1999 record for the indoor shot put by nearly a foot with his throw of 46 feet, 3/8 inch, which earned him fifth place in the competition, and put him in second among Mid-Central College Conference opponents.

Two Maple Leafs were awarded scholarships for their part in the American Red Cross Leadership program at the men’s basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 5.  Kelsey Morris, a sophomore softball player, and Nate Manning, a junior basketball player were selected for a $500 scholarship because of their strong leadership skills and commitment to the NAIA’s core values. So far, they have helped coordinate one blood drive, resulting in collecting 78 pints of blood.

The women’s basketball team were evenly matched against Grace College during their game last Saturday, Feb. 5.  Although the Maple Leafs had a six-point half-time lead, Grace managed to come out with a win, resulting in a final score of 63-56.

Carl Steen, a senior, led the men’s basketball team with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting during their home game against Grace College on Saturday, Feb. 5.  Grace proved to be too much for Goshen when they won the game, 87-66.

67-77

After a close first half, the Goshen men’s basketball team couldn’t hold off University of Saint Francis during their game in Fort Wayne last Tuesday night.  The game ended with a final score of 67-77.
