Local artists will come together to enhance March’s First Friday with the Spring Art Fest.
Both developing and established artists will have opportunities to display their work. Local students will be featured in a Youth Art Hop, and the Goshen Open Studio tour will display the work of professional artists.
The Youth Art Hop will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, with 15 downtown businesses displaying student artwork. Friday is just the kickoff for this month-long exhibit. An awards ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. at Accents Framing & Gifts (120 E Washington St.) for first, second, third place and honorable mention winners, in addition to a “Best of Show” for high schoolers.
Participating schools include: Bethany Christian, Fairfield Senior High, Benton elementary, New Paris elementary, Millersburg elementary, St. John the Evangelist Catholic School, Goshen junior and senior high schools and Goshen elementary schools.
The art festival will continue on to Saturday with the Goshen Open Studio tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors will get a look inside the studios and galleries of a number of local artists. The tour will be self-guided, featuring works in progress and completed works. Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase original art directly from the artists.

In addition to the art festival, the usual entertainment will still be included in the First Friday. The Goshen Theater will host various music and dance performances, such as Goshen College’s Voices ‘N Harmony, and Rodney Cordner, Irish guitarist, among others.
