Ted & Company return to Goshen for November show

Ted Swartz, of Ted & Company TheaterWorks, will be coming to Goshen on Saturday, Nov. 7 for the first time in 11 years.

Swartz, father of current student Derek Swartz, a senior, will be performing with Trent Wagler of Harrisonburg, Virginia along with Jay Lapp, a Goshen alumnus and native, and a choir of local singers.

Rachel Lapp, assistant professor of communication and sister of Jay Lapp, said, “Ted does something so unique with his shows…it’s a great model for those in the arts who can think creatively about how to be entrepreneurial [and] to have a relevant voice in the church community by provoking thought in nontraditional ways (not from the pulpit).”

They will present “What Would Lloyd Do?”—a show that uses elements of music, theater and comedy to touch on the themes of disappointment and disillusionment, faith and hope. Wagler wrote the music for the show, and Lapp produced the music into a soundtrack.

The show will be performed Saturday, November 7 from 7:30-9 p.m. and Sunday, November 8 from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Old Goshen Theater. For tickets, call 574-535-0808 (Wednesday through Friday).

Advance tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for students with premier seating reserved for advance ticket holders. General seating tickets will also be available at the door for $2 more. Goshen’s LaCasa and Downtown 8:08 are joining Ted & Company Theater Works in sponsoring the show, and a portion of the ticket sales will benefit LaCasa.
