The Goshen College Choirs will be presenting a multicultural concert experience this Saturday.

“EARTHTONES: Songs from Many Cultures,” will feature performances by the Chamber Choir, Men’s Chorus, Women’s World Music Choir and student vocal ensemble the MennoNotes.

The global theme of the concert has been special for many choir members.

Prashansa Dickson, a sophomore, said, “We in the Women’s World Music Choir like to feel like we sing connected to the earth and the women around the world who are working with the earth. So, singing songs from around the globe helps reiterate that message deeper in us as we sing on behalf of all the women whose songs have been stifled.”

The concert will feature veteran choir performers as well as first-time members, and the choirs will perform diverse repertoire covering many genres.

“Getting new repertoire for EARTHTONES has been extremely exciting,” said Emma Caskey, a sophomore. “We’re doing songs ranging from a Brazilian song to celebrate Carnival to a Scandinavian song from the popular movie Frozen.  I’ve heard some of the men’s pieces and they are equally amazing. It’s powerful to get so many students together singing songs from around the world. I can’t wait to be a part of this concert and share what we’ve been working on.”

Students are eager to share their enthusiasm for their music with an audience. “EARTHTONES is by far my favorite performance throughout the year,” said Anna Nafziger, a sophomore. “It gives everyone the opportunity to not only sing, but to experience music in our souls, which is something that we do less often than we would think.”

Tickets will be $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors. Current GC students, faculty and staff will receive free admission with ID. The concert will begin promptly at 7:30 in Sauder Concert Hall.
